Former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Niran Alarape has rejected his appointment as the Senior Legislative Aide to the Federal House of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass

It would be recalled that Alarape’s appointment is contained in a letter dated October 11, 2023, and signed by the Secretary, of Human Resources and Staff Development; Birma Shuaibu Maina on behalf of the Clerk to the National Assembly.

While making the official rejection/declination statement made available personally to Heritage Echo News today 5th November 2023, the statement read in parts;

“May I respectfully convey with constraint my declination of appointment in line with paragraph 4 of the letter which I have not received it has enjoyed generous circulation on social media without my consent or prompting”

“Mr. Speaker, I thank you very sincerely for considering me worthy of appointment and my brother Hon. Prince Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi for his confidence in me culminating into this “.

However, I have been and still expecting a reward for my steadfastness and unalloyed support for my great party the All Progressives Congress APC not only as a candidate during the 2023 general election but as a committed party member.

“I thank numerous well-wishers across political divides who expressed joy across social media through messages, calls, and private visits. I assure you all that this decision is taken in good faith”

Finally, Mr. Speaker, I wish you the very best of your heart’s desire, a peaceful and successful tenure.
