Heritage Echo News met Osiefa of Oyo land, Chief Adeniran Tajudeen Labintan recently and he spoke about his role in the palace as well as another thing that many people may not know.
According to him; “I became Osiefa on 15th July 2018, there are three under Alaafin, they are Onaefa, Otunefa and Osiefa. Osiefa is a member of Alaafin’s cabinet. He has to serve Alaafin till he goes to bed”.
“Alaafin can even call him at 1 or 2 a.m. Osiefa is the one that attaches leaves to the Chiefs’ and Baales’ heads”. He affirmed.

If the kolanut drawing is not positive, they speak with it and ask questions.

“The king has to live harmoniously with his queens so that there will be peace in the palace and the town. In ancient days the court emanated from the palace. That is why you have Aganju Court Hall inside the palace.
The prison started from Osiefa’s residence because convicted offenders are kept with him.
“It was the king that was the head of government before colonialists came. Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemo III spent his reign judiciously and meritoriously. Alaafin was an authentic brain man. King from home and abroad came to rub minds with Kabiyesi. He was a repertoire of history.
He continued to acquire knowledge till he passed on. Nobody at home and abroad challenged his authority. The death of Alaafin was a great loss to the palace and the whole city. Kabiyesi was fair and considerate. Those who were made chiefs and Baales never remember us since the demise of the late Iku Baba Yeye.
We pray that the incoming Kabiyesi may do better because the departed monarch was generous. He even built houses and bought cars for people.
