…Two-Day Summit to Promote Service-Driven Leadership, Transformative Governance

The countdown has begun to the much-anticipated Students’ Legislative Summit, organised by the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), University of Ibadan, in honour of the Federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency, Hon. Dhikirullah Olajide Stanley Adedeji, popularly known as Odidiomo.

The two-day summit, scheduled to hold on September 22 and 23, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, is expected to bring together students, academics, political stakeholders and other young leaders to deliberate on leadership, public service and the future of governance in Nigeria.

Themed “The Service Paradigm: Transforming Mindsets to Service-Driven Leadership in Nigeria,” the summit is designed to provide a platform for meaningful intellectual engagement on the need for a new generation of leaders who place service, accountability, innovation and public interest at the centre of governance.

As the event draws closer, anticipation is building within the university community, with students and university dons expected to participate actively in the discussions and activities lined up for the summit.

The organisers said the summit would also provide an opportunity for students to engage with contemporary leadership challenges while exploring practical approaches to developing a culture of responsible and service-oriented leadership among Nigerian youths.

Hon. Adedeji, who is also the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for the Oyo South Senatorial District, is being honoured at the summit in recognition of his legislative and public service engagement.

The event is expected to feature thought-provoking discussions, leadership conversations and interactions aimed at encouraging students to see leadership beyond positions and titles, but as a responsibility to society.

The Speaker of the University of Ibadan Students’ Representative Council, 13th Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Oludele, is expected to lead the student legislative leadership at the summit.

With just eight days to the event, attention is increasingly turning to the University of Ibadan as students and members of the academic community prepare for what promises to be a significant gathering focused on redefining leadership through the lens of service.

The summit is expected to further strengthen conversations around youth participation, leadership development and the role of students in shaping the future of democratic governance in Nigeria.
