Akinyele-Lagelu Deserves Better: Engineer Toheeb Adegoke, ADLAT, and the Demand for a New Direction

For the past seven years, the people of Akinyele-Lagelu have continued to search for meaningful and impactful representation.

Sadly, what many residents have experienced is a pattern in which political engagement becomes highly visible during electioneering, particularly when votes are being sought, only for that visibility to disappear once the elections are over.

Beyond the temporary gestures and election-period reliefs, the people deserve representatives who will remain accessible, accountable and committed to pursuing development throughout the entire tenure.

It is against this backdrop that the emergence of a young and promising personality, Engineer Toheeb Adegoke, popularly known as ADLAT, deserves serious attention. ADLAT represents a different kind of political possibility: youthful energy, fresh ideas, intellectual capacity and a clear willingness to challenge the status quo. Brilliant, bold and articulate, he possesses the temperament and professional background required to engage constructively on issues affecting Akinyele-Lagelu and to champion a development-focused agenda.

The question before the people should therefore go beyond who can provide the most immediate election-period benefits. It should be about who can effectively represent their interests, attract meaningful development, speak confidently on the floor of the legislature and remain answerable to the people. If, as many constituents contend, the past three years have produced little visible legislative impact in terms of bills or motions directly addressing the needs of the constituency, then the time has come for voters to demand more from representation.

ADLAT is offering himself as that alternative. His aspiration is not simply about replacing one individual with another; it is about changing the expectations and standards of representation in Akinyele-Lagelu. The constituency needs a representative who understands that public office is a responsibility, not an opportunity to serve personal interests.

For Akinyele-Lagelu, the coming political season presents an opportunity to ask a fundamental question: Are we satisfied with the way we have been represented, or are we ready for a fresh voice with fresh ideas? Engineer Toheeb Adegoke, ADLAT, is positioning himself as a young man ready to take up that challenge and the people now have the opportunity to decide whether that new direction is what their constituency needs.a
