The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji, popularly known as KSA, has paid a royal courtesy visit to the Eleruwa of Eruwaland ahead of the monarch’s first coronation anniversary and other landmark traditional events scheduled to take place in Eruwa.
The visit, which underscored KSA’s respect for traditional institutions and his commitment to maintaining strong ties with communities within the constituency, took place at the monarch’s residence.
The weekend’s activities are expected to attract traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders and residents from across Ibarapaland as the Eruwa traditional institution marks a significant milestone.
Among the activities lined up is the celebration of the Eleruwa’s first coronation anniversary, marking a year of leadership, cultural preservation and community engagement under the monarch.
Also scheduled is the official commissioning of the newly renovated and expanded Eleruwa of Eruwaland Palace, which has undergone significant improvements.
Another major highlight of the celebrations is the Iwuye ceremony, during which the All Ibarapa Land Traditional Council is expected to confer the prestigious chieftaincy titles of Aare and Yeye Aare Soludero of Ibarapaland on the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and his wife, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, respectively, in recognition of their contributions to the development of the region.
Receiving KSA at his residence, the Eleruwa of Eruwaland expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of respect for the traditional institution and the people of Eruwa.
The monarch particularly commended KSA for identifying with the royal institution ahead of the major celebrations, noting that such gestures reflected the importance of mutual respect and partnership between political actors, traditional institutions and the grassroots.
The Eleruwa also offered prayers for KSA, seeking divine wisdom, strength and favour for him as he pursues his political aspirations and seeks to represent the people of Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency.
Speaking on the significance of the visit, KSA reaffirmed the importance of preserving the cultural heritage and traditional institutions of the people.
He stressed that meaningful representation goes beyond political activities, noting that it must also involve a deep understanding of the history, culture, aspirations and institutions of the people.
According to him, traditional institutions remain important pillars of community identity, unity and development, making it necessary for political leaders to maintain constructive relationships with them.
KSA said, “Our cultural heritage is the bedrock of our identity. Honouring our traditional institutions is not just a duty; it is a foundational step towards building a united and prosperous constituency.”
The visit further reinforces KSA’s grassroots engagement strategy as he continues his consultations and interactions with traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and residents across Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency.
