The Member representing AFIJIO State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Oladeji Oparinde, commenced the second phase of his constituency-wide solar light distribution programme, extending the initiative to communities and groups across the constituency.
Recall that The first phase was distributed to Jobele , akinmorin (ward 8) and iware community (Ward 9), Abojupa community (ward 2)
The second phase of the intervention, which took place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, saw the distribution of 46 solar lights to residents and communities identified as having critical lighting needs.
Beneficiaries of the latest intervention include Elekara Community, Dangote Hausa/Yoruba Community, non-indigenous residents represented by Comrade Kaku Jida, people living with disabilities (PWDs) represented by chair person of JOWAPID, and Ayefele Community, among other BENEFICIARIES
The initiative is part of Oparinde’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusive community development and improve access to basic amenities through targeted constituency interventions. The solar lighting project is expected to enhance visibility, improve security around public spaces and residential areas, and contribute to the general well-being of beneficiaries, particularly in communities with limited access to reliable electricity.
The latest distribution builds on the lawmaker’s first phase of the solar lighting initiative, underscoring his commitment to sustaining practical interventions that directly impact the lives of constituents irrespective of their ethnic, social, physical or community background.
Speaking during the distribution, Oparinde reiterated the importance of equitable representation and inclusive development, stressing that constituency projects should respond to the genuine needs of the people.
He maintained that the intervention was designed to reach communities and groups that are often underserved, noting that the inclusion of Hausa/Yoruba communities, non-indigenous residents and persons living with disabilities reflects the need for every constituent to benefit from government and representative interventions.
The distribution attracted the presence of members of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Afijio, including the Local Government Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Women Leader, Ward Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Secretaries, Women Leaders, Youth Leaders and other party leaders.
Also in attendance kwere serving councillors and incoming councillors, the LCDA Secretary, Ward Special Advisers, Vice Chairmen II and III, as well as other political stakeholders and community representatives.
The gathering provided an opportunity for stakeholders to commend the initiative while reaffirming the importance of people-oriented representation and grassroots development.
The distribution of the 46 solar lights further highlights Oparinde’s constituency engagement strategy, with emphasis on interventions capable of addressing immediate community needs while promoting social inclusion and improved living conditions across Afijio State Constituency.
As the second phase of the programme takes effect, beneficiaries across the participating communities are expected to enjoy improved illumination in their respective areas, with the intervention adding another dimension to ongoing efforts to deliver tangible constituency benefits to the people of Afijio.
