A coalition of prominent elders under the aegis of the Oyo Federal Constituency Unity Elders has declared its support for the aspiration of Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning in Oyo State, Hon. Seun Ashamu, to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027.
The endorsement was made public on Thursday during a stakeholders’ meeting convened in Oyo, where community leaders, political stakeholders, and opinion moulders of the Unity Elders gathered to deliberate on the future of the constituency and the need for purposeful representation.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the elders noted that their decision to support Ashamu followed extensive consultations and a careful assessment of his leadership qualities, track record, and commitment to grassroots development.

They described him as a credible and capable candidate with the vision to attract meaningful development to the constituency.

According to the forum, the call for a representative who understands the needs of the people and can effectively articulate them at the national level informed their unanimous decision.

They emphasized the importance of unity among stakeholders in ensuring electoral success and sustainable progress.
The elders further urged residents of the constituency to rally behind Ashamu, stressing that collective support would enhance the chances of securing quality representation and accelerated development.
In his response, Ashamu expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, describing the endorsement as both humbling and motivating.
He assured the elders and the wider constituency of his readiness to serve with integrity, transparency, and dedication if elected.
He also pledged to prioritize key areas such as youth empowerment, infrastructure development, education, and economic growth, noting that his ambition is driven by a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call for unity among political actors and community leaders, as the elders reiterated their commitment to mobilizing support for Ashamu’s candidacy ahead of the forthcoming elections.
