Hon. Tosin Alabi, the leading candidate for Egbeda/Ona-Ara House of Representative seat has restated his commitment to youth inclusive governance if been elected come 2027.

Alabi made the remark on Wednesday during a media chat with students and youth of Oyo state at Olunloyo Park in Ibadan.

The media engagement was organized by Tosin Alabi Students Movement, and was attended by reputable media outlets, student and youth leaders in the state.

In his address, Alabi highlighted the importance of active participation in governance and civic processes.

He urged that young people should be introduced into leadership structures, saying, “Youth inclusion is not optional; it is essential for sustainable development.

“We must move beyond symbolic involvement and ensure young people are part of the decision-making process.”

He further stated, “The energy, creativity and innovation that young people bring to governance cannot be ignored.

My commitment is to create platforms where their voices are not only heard but reflected in policies and actions.”

Alabi praised Governor Makinde’s leadership, describing it as pragmatic and impactful,. adding that: “Governor Seyi Makinde has shown that governance can be people-centred and result-driven.“

“His administration has made visible strides in infrastructure and public service delivery, and this deserves commendation,” he said.

He also highlighted the role of Jubril Dotun Sanusi in grassroots development within Ona-Ara, noting that his contributions have had tangible effects on the lives of residents.

“Jubril Dotun Sanusi has demonstrated what it means to give back to the community.

His efforts in Ona-Ara are visible and impactful, and they continue to inspire many of us,” Alabi added.

Addressing his connection to the constituency, Alabi underscored his roots in both Ona-Ara and Egbeda local government areas.

“My biological mother is from Badeku in Ona-Ara, while my father is from Egbeda.

This gives me a deep, personal connection to both communities,” he said.

He continued, “Therefore, I am eminently qualified to represent the interests of the two local governments.

I understand the challenges, the aspirations and the unique needs of our people because they are my people.”

Reinforcing his vision for representation, Alabi noted, “Representation must go beyond occupying an office; it must reflect genuine understanding and responsiveness to the people’s needs.

That is the kind of leadership I stand for.”

He encouraged young people to remain actively engaged in civic affairs, saying, “The future belongs to you, but you must be ready to take responsibility for it.

Stay informed, stay involved, and never underestimate your power to effect change.”

The engagement ended with a renewed call for sustained dialogue between leaders and the youth, as participants expressed optimism about greater inclusion in governance and decision-making processes.
