The member representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has paid glowing tribute to Nigeria’s fallen heroes, describing their sacrifices as the bedrock upon which the nation’s peace, unity and sovereignty stand.

In a statement signed by his Media Group to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Agboworin honoured officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces, who paid the supreme price in defence of the country, noting that their courage and selflessness must never be forgotten.

He commiserated with families of fallen soldiers, widows, orphans and wounded veterans, acknowledging the pain and loss they continue to bear long after the battlefields have gone silent.

According to him, the nation owes them not just words of gratitude but sustained care, support and dignity.

“Armed Forces Remembrance Day reminds us that our freedoms were bought at a great cost. The gallant men and women who laid down their lives did so in the service of a united and peaceful Nigeria.

“Their memories must continue to inspire our collective resolve to build a safer and more just nation,” Agboworin said.

The two term lawmaker also praised serving military personnel for their bravery and resilience in the face of security challenges, urging Nigerians to continue to support the Armed Forces through prayers, patriotism and cooperation with security agencies.

He called on governments at all levels to prioritise the welfare of serving and retired military personnel, stressing that adequate welfare, healthcare and support for families of fallen heroes remain a moral obligation.
