The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has expressed heartfelt sympathy to the victims of the recent bandit attack in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

The Speaker condemned the senseless killing of innocent residents and the destruction of properties by suspected bandits, describing the incident as unfortunate and heartbreaking.

In his statement, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the attack.

He also commended the Honourable Member representing Orire State Constituency in the House, Hon. Johnson Ogundele, for his immediate response and efforts to stand by his people in their moment of grief.

“This is a dark moment for our dear state. I commiserate with the victims, the families who have lost loved ones, and the entire people of Orire. We mourn with you, and we assure you that your pain is ours,” the Speaker said.

Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin further commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his swift and proactive response to the tragic incident, and assurance of strengthened security architecture in the region.

He assured the people of Orire and other vulnerable areas in the state that the Oyo State House of Assembly will continue to support legislative and executive actions aimed at ensuring lasting peace and security.

The Speaker called on security agencies to intensify their intelligence and surveillance operations across the state to prevent a recurrence of such attacks.
