Oyo: 3-person Rescue Alive as Fire Ravages Residential Building In Ibadan

Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as Fire ravaged a residential Building In Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred on Friday, 26th December 2025, at Amosun Compound, Aremo, Ibadan.

It was discovered that the fire incident was a result of an electrical appliance left plugged in during a power outage, which ignited when power was restored.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.

Akinwande in a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo News, said
The fire personnel led by CFS Adekola swiftly responded and deployed to the scene.

He said, “Upon arrival, three(3) bungalow residential buildings were engulfed by flames.

“Our officers hurriedly swung into action and on getting there, the attending crew requested an additional fire truck from Fire Service Headquarters and worked to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings and properties. The blaze was jointly extinguished by our officers.

However, three people were rescued alive with minor injuries and treated at a nearby hospital. The fire incident was a result of an electrical appliance left plugged in during a power outage, which ignited when power was restored.

The resident applauded the State government for providing state-of-the-art equipment to the State fire service.

Equally, Akinwande advised the residents to unplug every appliance when not in use to avert the occurrence of a fire disaster.

Also, the Oyo State fire service responded to a distress call on the heaps of refuse burning and treated the nearby buildings at Ajibade Street, Opposite GTBank, Mokola, Ibadan.

Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday, 25th December, 2025.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman confirmed the incident.

He said, “The fire personnel led by CFS Adekola (Mrs) promptly mobilized and responded to the distressed call.

“On getting there, we met heaps of refuse burning and treating the nearby buildings. Immediately, firemen got to work and prevented the flames from spreading to the surrounding buildings as well as properties.

“No casualty was recorded. The operation was carried out successfully and properties worth millions of naira were saved by the officers of the fire service. The refuse was set on fire by an unknown person.

However, the community was urged to desist from the habit of setting refuse and bushes on fire during this dry season to avert an imminent fire incident.
