The Forum of Board Chairmen and Director-Generals of Oyo State government Agencies and Parastatals has jointly congratulated the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde and his wife, Engineer (Mrs.) Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, on conferring the revered traditional titles of Aare Omoluabi and Yeye Aare Omoluabi of Akure Kingdom.
The prestigious titles were bestowed by the Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi (Odundun II), in recognition of the couple’s exemplary leadership, deep moral values, and sustained contributions to societal development across the Southwest and beyond.
In a statement issued on behalf of the forum by the forum Secretary, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, the forum members lauded the honour as “a fitting tribute” to the governor’s people-centered governance and the First Lady’s impactful social initiatives.
Based on the good governance mantra of His Excellency and Her Excellency, it’s indeed a well-deserved honour as a golden gift to reinforce hardworking, visionary leadership in Yorubaland.
“This well-deserved honour reflects the high esteem in which His Excellency and Her Excellency are held, not only within Oyo State but across Yoruba land,”
“The titles of Aare and Yeye Aare Omoluabi are reserved for individuals whose lives embody integrity, wisdom, compassion, and unwavering service to the people — all qualities that define the Makinde administration.”
The forum highlighted Governor Makinde’s achievements in Education, Infrastructure, Economic empowerment, and Institutional reforms, noting that his administration has redefined public service and rekindled public trust in governance.
Equally, the First Lady was praised for her tireless advocacy in women’s health, child education, gender equity, and lots more.
“Their recognition in Akure speaks volumes about the pan-Yoruba unity and respect they have earned across traditional and political institutions,” the statement continued. “It also reinforces the importance of leadership anchored in character — the essence of the Omoluabi ethos.”
The Forum reaffirmed its support for the governor’s administration and pledged continued commitment to advancing the vision of a progressive, inclusive, and culturally grounded Oyo State.
The chieftaincy ceremony, held in Akure, was attended by royal fathers, political dignitaries, cultural custodians, government functionaries, commissioners, and well-wishers from across Nigeria and the diaspora.
