The Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande has extended warm felicitations to the 46th Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade I, on the occasion of his golden jubilee birthday celebration today.

As Iku Baba Yeye reached the golden jubilee in his life, in a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo by Hon. Moroof Akinwande, the monarch was congratulated on the occasion, stressing that his reign has ushered in continuous development and progress.
While extending warm congratulations and best wishes, he underscored the monarch’s contributions to cultural preservation, territorial sovereignty, and regional development.

“On this auspicious occasion of Your Majesty’s 50th birthday, I offer sincere congratulations and prayers for continued health, wisdom, and divine favour. Your leadership has been pivotal in promoting unity, tradition, and progress across Oyo State,” the Hon. Akinwande stated.
Oba Owoade ascended the throne following approval by Governor Seyi Makinde on 10 January 2025 and was formally crowned on 5 April 2025, succeeding the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III. Since then, he has focused on bridging divides within the traditional institution and reinforcing the cultural heritage of the Yoruba nation.



In his half-century journey, Oba Owoade has traversed a significant path, from earning degrees in mechanical engineering in the U.K. to a distinguished career in Canada with Manitoba Hydro, before returning to Nigeria to assume his traditional duties.
Hon. Akinwande concluded his message with a prayer: “May the Almighty grant Your Majesty more years on the throne, marked by peace, unity, and far-reaching prosperity for the people of Oyo and beyond.”

As Oyo reflects on this momentous occasion, the people, government officials, sons and daughters like Honourable Moroof Akinwande, extend their gratitude for Oba Owoade’s leadership and reaffirm their support for the continued advancement of the Oyo kingdom under his reign.
