The Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo, popularly known as ‘Ijaya’, has commended the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji for his giant strides in grassroots development.

The Commissioner described the Council boss as a “true replica” of Governor Seyi Makinde in terms of people-centered governance.

The commissioner made this remark on Friday during the official commissioning of two newly completed motorized borehole projects in the local government area.

The two well equipped boreholes with brand new generators for water pumping are located at Apete Awowo under ward 4 and Maharaji village in ward 5.

Addressing the community including local leaders, residents, and stakeholders at the event, Hon. Ojo commended the unrelenting commitment of the council chairman to grassroots development and efficient service delivery.

“We now have a true replica of Governor Seyi Makinde here in Oluyole. We know you have been doing very well, and you will continue to do well because we know you have the political will and capacity do well. We encourage you to continue the good works you have started,” Hon. Ojo said.

He further noted that feedback from community leaders and traditional rulers have also affirmed Olatunji’s growing reputation as a “man of the people,” whose leadership is rooted in accessibility, accountability, and responsiveness to community needs.

The motorized borehole projects, which is part of ongoing efforts by the Oluyole Local Government administration to improve access to clean water across communities, was received with appreciation by local residents, many of whom attested to the immediate impact the project would have on their daily lives and physical well-being.

The commissioner lauded the Makinde-led state government for creating an enabling environment for local government chairmen to thrive, urging other council leaders across the state to emulate the Oluyole model.

In his brief remarks, the Council Chairman, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji reiterated his commitment to aligning with Governor Makinde’s development blueprint and promised more people-focused projects in the weeks ahead.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the event, Olatunji said: “It’s an obligation on us at the grassroots to fully align whatever we do with the vision of our overall leader, the executive governor of Oyo state in project and policy formulation, implementation, and execution.

“This is the only way we can engender policy cohesion that guarantees a positive trickle down effects and proper visibility to what we do at the grassroots.

“The support we have continued to enjoyed from the state government through the MDAs especially the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy have been immense and we feel we owe it to them to also make them proud of what we do.

The event also drew the attendance of traditional rulers, political stakeholders, community associations, and civil society groups.
