Heritage Echo gathered that a tanker carrying 15,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) crashed and spilled its contents in Ibadan.

The said incident occurred at the toll-gate area, Ibadan/Ife Expressway, Ibadan.

It was gathered that the tanker with registration Number EPE299XN (LAGOS) of 15,000 liters loaded with Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) lost control whilst on motion and swerved to the roadside, causing the content to gush out.

No casualty was recorded and the tanker was saved from catching fire.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service Reform/Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.

He said, “The incident was reported at exactly 20:11hrs on Wednesday, 25th June,2025, through a telephone call, and CSP Akeredolu reported a falling trailer tanker loaded with petroleum spirit at the above address.

The Agency’s personnel, led by CFS Adedeji, swiftly responded to the emergency call. On arrival, we met a falling MAN trailer tanker with Registration number EPE299XN (LAGOS) of 15,000 liters capacity loaded with Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), lost control whilst in motion, and swerved to the roadside, with content gushing out.

“We quickly covered the spillage with chemical foam compound to neutralize the flame of the liquid, which can trigger naked fire from a close or far place.

The accident was due to a lack of absolute concentration while driving by the truck driver.

The vehicular movement has been restored on the road.

No casualty was recorded and the tanker was saved from catching fire.
