The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has recognized Professor Wasiu Babatunde Akanbi of the Crop Production and Soil Science department for his outstanding contributions to the university and academic communities.
This marks the second consecutive year Professor Akanbi has received such recognition, following his previous award as one of the top ten researchers with the highest Google Scholar citation.
During the 17th convocation ceremony held at The Great Hall on Wednesday, Professor Akanbi was presented with an award of excellence for his dedication and hard work in research.
It was received on his behalf by the Head of Crop Production and Soil Science department, Prof. B. A. Lawal.
MOUTHPIECE NGR understands that some of the researchers who were honored last year for their high Google Scholar citations were also recognized this year, underscoring their continued dedication and impactful work.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, commended the awardees, noting that they play a crucial role in the success of students and the university’s leadership in higher education.
Professor Akanbi, however, expressed his gratitude to the university management for the recognition, stating that the award is a milestone and a challenge for him to continue elevating LAUTECH to a global level.
“I give glory to Almighty God for His Mercy. This award is dedicated to Prof T. A. Adebayo, V.C. Ajayi Crowther University in recognition of his efforts on my academic career. God bless you more.
“I will keep working hard to make the institution a center of excellence,” he said.
