The Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Lands and Housing has debunked reports that it directed the state’s Housing Corporation to revoke allocations of undeveloped plots from allottees unwilling to commence development.

According to the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Adeola Bamidele (Iseyin/Itesiwaju), the statement credited to the Committee in a news story circulated online was untrue and taken out of context.

Hon. Adeola Bamidele said, the Committee was on a working visit to the Housing Corporation on Monday, March 3, 2025, where it emphasized the need for allottees to develop their lands in order to put an end to land grabbing.

He added that, the Committee has been inundated with reports of land grabbers taking over Oyo government lands, and it is working to address this issue.

Hon. Bamidele clarified that the Committee did not issue any directive to revoke allocations, but rather stressed the importance of developing allocated lands to prevent land grabbing.

“The oversight work is to promote Oyo State Government policies on land matters, ensure a friendly PPP friendly policies as well as boost the economic growth of the State. This is in line with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde “

He urged allottees to take immediate action to develop their lands, and assured that the Committee would continue to work with the Housing Corporation to ensure optimal land utilization and urban development in the state.

“The Committee’s visit to the Housing Corporation was aimed at overseeing the activities of the Corporation and ensuring that government policies on land allocation and development are being implemented effectively.

The Oyo State House of Assembly is committed to ensuring that land allocation and development policies are fair, transparent, and beneficial to the people of the state.” Hon. Adeola Bamidele said
