NANTS Denounces Groups of Saarat Konibaje, Alade, and Others; Expels Members

The National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS), Oyo State Chapter, has issued a strong statement distancing itself from several individuals it claims are no longer members of the organization.

In a press release, the association denounced the involvement of individuals including Alhaja Saarat Aduke Konibaje, Nureni Alade (Current Political Head, Oyo Southwest Local Council Development Area), Alhaji Tijani Ibrahim (also known as Ibromiyu), Ademola Adebayo, Salimonu Adebayo Hollywood, Alollade Fatai, Rahamat Aderonke Adedoja, and members of the All Agric who have been active in the association’s struggles.

According to NANTS, these individuals were either expelled or never members of the organization, and their participation in a coalition for the “Iyaloja struggle” in the state was done without NANTS’ endorsement. The coalition, of which NANTS was once a part, is now considered defunct. The association stressed that these individuals should now engage directly with their own associations and liaise with the relevant ministries specifically the Oyo State Ministry of Agriculture rather than continuing to claim affiliation with NANTS.

In its statement, NANTS emphasized that it will continue to support the best candidates in future endeavors, ensuring that all zones within the state are treated fairly and equally, without any favoritism. The association also sought to clarify that while it was once involved in the coalition, it is no longer associated with the efforts led by the aforementioned individuals.

“NANTS is committed to its mission and will not be involved in any conspiracy or misleading claims. We encourage the Ministry of Trade, Oyo State, to verify membership claims through original documentation to avoid being misled by false representations,” the statement read.

NANTS also urged the Ministry of Trade in Oyo State to conduct thorough verification of the credentials of anyone claiming membership of the organization. The association warned that any action based on fraudulent or misrepresented documents could lead to further complications.

The statement concluded with NANTS reaffirming its commitment to representing Nigerian traders in Oyo State and beyond, while ensuring integrity and transparency in all its dealings.

The press release was signed by Chief Theophilus Olawoyin, Vice Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Traders, Oyo State Chapter.
