A member of House of Representative representing Ibadan South East/North East Federal Constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun, popularly known as Agboworin, on Tuesday, expressed heartfelt sympathy to traders affected by the fire outbreak at herbal section of Oranyan Market.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, had destroyed multimillion-naira properties and herbs, although no lives were lost.

Agboworin, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, in a condolence message made available to journalists in Ibadan, commiserated with the victims, acknowledging the significant damage and economic loss occasioned by the distressing incident.

While bemoaning the inferno, the lawmaker urged caution and adherence to essential safety measures within the market premises, with a view to preventing fire outbreaks and other accidents.

The statement read: “I am disturbed to learn of the horrific fire incident which consumed 40 shops at the herbal section (Iso Alagbo) Market in Oranyan market, Ibadan, last Saturday.

“I share in the pains of the hardworking traders including our fathers and mothers, who have lost their valuable investments to the incident. My heart really goes out to those directly affected by this unfortunate incident and indeed the people and government of Oyo State.

“I also want to commiserate with the leadership of Oyo business community over this painful experiences. May distressing incident like this stop from recurring in our domains,” he said.
