Oyo State Primary Health Care Board has reiterated its readiness to complete the recruitment process started in 2021.

The Executive Secretary,Oyo State Primary Health Care Board , Dr. Muyideen Olatunji stated this at a briefing held in the Conference Room of the Board.

He said the board is commencing recruitment into the primary care facilities across the entire thirty- three local government areas of the state, in the primary health care sector.

He requested that those
people who have applied in 2021 should go back to the portal when it opens in a week now to be able to check and know those of them that will be invited for the CBT examination.

He explained that the earlier applicants can check www.jobportal.oyostate.gov.ng. and click on their PHC job portal.

He maintained that the government has commenced the renovation and upgrade of primary healthcare facilities across 361 political wards of the state, adding that more than 200 facilities have completed.

He said: The essence of calling this briefing is to help us to educate the masses about the efforts of the Seyi Makinde led governments.

You will recall that we started with the renovation and upgrade of primary healthcare facilities across 361 political wards.

The state governments wanted to have at least one functional primary healthcare facility in each of the political wards, and in Oyo state we have 361 wards. And we’ve gone so far in that effort of renovation and upgrade.

As of today, we’ve completed more than 200 facilities.

And the remaining one, in the next few months, will surely be completed. If you talk about upgrading the facility or health -facility, apart from infrastructural upgrades, there are things that will be needed to be used there, as per the equipment.

As of today, the government has equipped some of those facilities. But in the recent time, additional 264 facilities have been given additional equipment to further upgrade them. But no matter how much upgrade we do, or infrastructural re-engineering that we do, if there are no human resources that will make it functional, it will pay to nothing. And you all agree with me, even in the country, what we have now is a serious challenge, as far as human resources are concerned.

“Because of the japa syndrome, one of our primary care facilities, where we need about 20 people working, maybe we have about four or five working in that place, which is grossly inadequacy.

So in the light of this, the state government is trying to take it a notch higher, by commencing recruitment into the primary care facilities across the entire three local government areas of the state, in the primary health care sector.

“Actually, we started this process in 2021.
We had an approval First, we did a gap analysis.

For a gap analysis, we were able to take away, let’s include this percentage of our requirement as a way forward. We started in 2021. But the process got a little delayed along the line.

“But to the glory of God, the governor has directed that the process that we started in 2021 be completed now. So we are completing the process we started in 2021.

“So people that had applied then, when we open the job portal, we are now to request them to go back to that portal in a week from now, to be able to check and know those of them that will be invited for CBT exams. Because if we say we are going to recruit about 3,000 plus, and the number of people that applied is 16,035 on our job portal application.

Within one week that we opened the portal, people that applied across all cadres, doctors, nurses, community health care workers, family technicians, medical laboratory scientists, medical laboratories, technologists, medical record officers, chiefs, even security guards as well as ambulance drivers.

“People that applied then, that application we started in 2021, totaled 16,035. We will be recruiting just a little above 3,000. We know that definitely we need to pick from the pool.

“So the pool that we have now, we must conduct an exam for them. So we will conduct a CBT exam, which we start anywhere from now. People can go and check the exam dates and people that are successful will be invited for the examination.

” After the submission, you have to go through some of them, who are those that actually met the requirement, who are those that actually fit based on the certificates that they supplied.
They are actually supposed to be there. Therefore, we are going to conduct a CBT exam at the second level of screening.

“Therefore, those that have passed the CBT exam, that way we can draw a cut-off line and then be able to invite them for the interview. We hope as soon as possible, in less than two months, all this exercise should be completed. But a week from now, people should go and start checking their quota.

” The job portal is www.jobportal.oyostate.gov.ng. And when they go there, they can click on their PHC job portal. They can click on it and then review the application. Therefore, it should be open for them.

Henceforth, people can go there and search for this job. So this is an effort we are doing and this is what we want to push across to the general populace to see that we are trying to recruit into the PHC system as a way of strengthening and uniting the primary health care system and be able to re-strategize primary care service delivery in the state.

In over 15 years, there has not been any meaningful recruitment into the primary care sector. This is the first time in almost two decades that we are recruiting into the primary health care system.
