The Yoruba proverb “Eni tí ó dá àsò fún ni, ti òrún lá máa wò” reminds us that true leadership is measured not only by position, but by the lives it transforms along the way. In political terms, it reflects leaders who empower people, build capacity, and leave behind a legacy of human development.
This principle clearly mirrors the political journey and leadership philosophy of Barrister Seun Temilolu Nurudeen Ashamu, whose style of leadership has consistently focused on people empowerment, youth inclusion, and grassroots development.
From his early involvement in politics in 2011 during a major political movement in Oyo State, Barrister Seun Ashamu has demonstrated intelligence, strategic leadership, and deep grassroots connection.
His political journey has produced many beneficiaries who have grown into leaders across different levels of governance. A clear example is Hon. Adekola Nurudeen, who currently serves as the Secretary of Oyo East Local Government. His appointment was facilitated through the recommendation and political influence of Barrister Seun Ashamu.
He is also one of the earliest youth contacts in Oyo politics linked to Barrister Ashamu, with a relationship spanning over 12 years, built on trust, loyalty, and consistent political engagement.
Beyond individual stories, Barrister Seun Ashamu’s impact reflects a broader pattern of youth empowerment and economic inclusion. He has facilitated over 300 job opportunities for indigenes of Oyo State, directly contributing to reducing unemployment and strengthening livelihoods. Remarkably, about 95% of his political followers mostly youths have benefited from political appointments and opportunities through his recommendations, a reflection of his consistent belief in youth inclusion and capacity development.
For Oyo Federal Constituency, the need for leadership that combines intellect, structure, and genuine commitment to human development cannot be overstated. Barrister Seun Ashamu represents a new generation of leadership that understands both governance and grassroots realities. His strength lies in identifying capable individuals, nurturing them, and giving them platforms to serve effectively.
Oyo Federal Constituency deserves more than routine representation. It deserves vision, innovation, and leadership that is both intellectually sound and people-driven. Barrister Seun Ashamu’s record of building leaders, creating jobs, and strengthening political structures shows his readiness to do more and deliver better outcomes for the people.
As discussions ahead of the next election continue, the people of Oyo Federal Constituency are encouraged to reflect on leadership that produces real impact. True leadership is not just about promises, but about proven ability to raise others, empower youths, and deliver lasting development.
