…Project targets improved security and nighttime visibility across key locations in Atiba Constituency
The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Atiba State Constituency, Hon. Gbenga Joseph Oyekola, has facilitated the installation of solar-powered floodlights across several communities within the constituency, in a move aimed at enhancing security and improving living conditions.

The installation exercise, carried out on Saturday, April 25, 2026, covered strategic locations including Ipekun, Ekeje, Lawende, Onilu, Oniyere, Ebu, as well as Orita Ladire, Ajanbata, and Lagbemu junction.
Residents of the benefiting communities expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful. Speaking on behalf of the communities, Mr. Azeez Muideen Alegun, Baba Salami Adunola, Leader Serifat, and Comrade Oladejo commended the lawmaker for addressing the longstanding challenge of poor lighting, which they said had affected safety and social activities in the areas for years.
They noted that the provision of solar-powered lighting would not only improve visibility at night but also help deter criminal activities and stimulate economic activities within the communities.
Hon. Oyekola, while reaffirming his commitment to grassroots development, stated that the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to deliver people-oriented projects that directly impact the daily lives of constituents.
He said the installation will continue until election time, as many other communities are still coming to demand their own.
The lawmaker had earlier executed similar solar lighting projects in Ayeegbami Community in Oke-Olola, Koso Community, Oke-Oroki Community, and Ahoyaya Community, further demonstrating a consistent approach to infrastructural development within Atiba Constituency.
The solar floodlight installations are widely seen as part of broader efforts to promote sustainable energy solutions while addressing critical infrastructure needs at the community level.
