Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State have adopted Oluwaseun Ololade Oyewo as the party’s consensus candidate for the Afijio State Constituency seat ahead of the next election cycle.

The decision was reached this morning during an ongoing high-level stakeholders’ meeting of the Oyo Central Senatorial District, held in the presence of Governor Seyi Makinde and other key political leaders across the zone.

Sources within the party disclosed that the move was aimed at fostering unity, strengthening internal cohesion, and positioning the PDP for a decisive victory at the polls.

Announcing the development, party stakeholders described Oyewo as a credible and capable candidate with a strong grassroots connection and a track record of service within the party structure.

They noted that his emergence reflects a collective resolve to present a formidable and widely accepted flag bearer.

According to party insiders, the consensus arrangement was achieved after other aspirants willingly stepped down in the interest of party unity and electoral success.

The stakeholders commended their maturity and commitment, emphasizing that the spirit of cooperation would further consolidate the PDP’s strength in Afijio.

In his acceptance remarks, Oyewo expressed gratitude to party leaders and members for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to justify their trust through inclusive representation and people-oriented legislative initiatives.

He assured constituents of his readiness to prioritize development, youth empowerment, and improved welfare if elected.

Political observers believe the consensus candidacy may give the PDP a strategic advantage in Afijio, as the party seeks to maintain its influence in Oyo State’s political landscape.
