Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State have adopted the Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, alongside Hon. Lekan Abiola, Hon. Akintayo Ilumoka, and Hon. Olorunpoto Rahaman Cephas as consensus candidates ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Hon. Oyekola, who currently serves as the Assembly Chief Whip, represents Atiba State Constituency. In contrast, Hon. Lekan Abiola represents Akinyele State Constituency I. Hon. Akintayo Ilumoka, represents Oluyole, and Hon. Olorunpoto Rahaman Cephas on his part, represents Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency.
The consensus decision followed extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders across the constituencies, aimed at fostering unity and strengthening the party’s electoral prospects.
Sources within the party noted that the adoption reflects confidence in the lawmakers’ performance, grassroots connection, and commitment to the PDP’s ideals.
Party leaders emphasized that the move is part of a broader strategy to ensure cohesion and minimize internal disputes, urging members to rally behind the candidates in preparation for the elections.
