Hon. Afolabi Ismail Alabi has formally declared his intention to contest for the chairmanship of Afijio Local Government Area ahead of the 2026 elections.

The aspirant, who hails from Ward 10 in Afijio LGA of Oyo State, made the announceent during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Jobele, where party leaders, members, and community representatives converged to deliberate on the political future of the council.
In his remarks, Afolabi expressed readiness to provide purposeful leadership and deliver people-oriented governance if given the mandate.
He emphasized his commitment to fostering development across all wards in the local government.
Speaking at the gathering, Chief Jagun Akinade underscored the importance of unity within the party, urging members to remain peaceful and work collectively towards achieving electoral success.
Also contributing, the local women’s leader, Mrs. Adelotan Motunrayo, called for increased political inclusion of women, stressing the need for greater representation in leadership positions within the council.
On his part, the youth leader, Mr. Ajao Olawoyin, advised the aspirant to prioritize inclusive politics and ensure the delivery of democratic dividends to the people if elected into office.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call for cohesion among party faithful as preparations gradually began for the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
