Men of the Oyo State Fire Service have rescued a 27-year-old man in

The man whose name has not been revealed was rescued on Thursday 26th February, 2026 at No. 5, Binukonu Olota, Olaogun, Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.
Heritage Echo gathered that the incident was as a result of inhalation of ammonia Gas by the victim when trying to clean some debris inside the abandoned well.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.



He said, “Fire officer led by CFS Adedeji swiftly responded and deployed to the scene id incident.
“Upon arrival, the officer quickly swung into action with necessary rescue equipment and recovered the body, and handed it over to a team of Policemen from Gbagi Police Divisional headquarters, Ibadan.

“The rescue operation was performed successfully. The incident was as a result of inhalation of ammonia Gas by the victim when trying to clean some debris inside the abandoned well.
Also, the Oyo State firefighter averted the tanker from the explosion at Onipe Village, Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan.
The firefighter led by ACFS Adeniyi swiftly deployed to the scene of the incident.
“Upon arrival,.it was a DAF trailer tanker registered number BDJ 292 ZY (Oyo) with a 45,000 litres capacity loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) that lost control while in motion and collided with a stationary DAF trailer tanker registered number MNA 78XC (NIGER), with a 45,000 litre capacity loaded with PMS and content gushing out profusely.
However, the officer quickly launched an articulated attack with foam chemical compound blanketing the spillage and preventing the ugly situation from resulting in a fire disaster.
No casualty was recorded as properties worth millions of naira were saved by the firefighters.
Equally, properties worth millions of naira were destroyed as an inferno engulfed a residential building in the Oke-Ogun axis of Oyo State.
Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred on Friday, February, 27th, 2026, at Alhaji Oloyoyo House, Opposite ADS Primary School Kaima Kara Area, Kishi, Oyo State.
The inferno was a result of a lighted candle unattended in the house.

He said, “A crew of firemen led by AFS Akande promptly responded and deployed to the scene of the incident, as 59years+old man was rescued alive.
“Upon arrival, it was a first room right at the ground floor of a storey residential building of four flats engulfed by flames and smoke. The firemen swiftly got into action, and the fire was prevented from spreading to other parts of the building and nearby properties.
The fire was a result of a lighted candle unattended, as a man of about Fifty (50) years of age recovered and handed over to the Nigerian police Kishi Divisional Headquarters
“Our investigation revealed the man returned home around 2:00am with a keg of petrol which led to the escalation of the fire. The fire affected only a room and the whole building was protected
Properties worth millions of naira were saved against imminent fire by the fire service.
Resident commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr ‘Seyi Makinde for providing state-of-the-art equipment to the State fire service in response to emergencies.
Equally, Akinwande urged the public to always prioritize their safety and avoid storing flammable liquids in the house, the use of candles must be properly monitored.
