The sons and daughters of the Ago-Oja Kingdom have expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, FNSE, for the historic restoration and installation of the Oloja of Ago-Oja Kingdom, which took place on February 13, 2026.

The official coronation was held today in Òyó township at Oliver Baptist Height School, Oyo.

In a statement issued on Friday 13th February, 2026, on behalf of the people, the Ago-Oja community recalled that for more than 200 years, the kingdom endured the painful loss of its royal stool—a development rooted in the selfless sacrifice and accommodating spirit of its forebears, who offered refuge in defence of the dignity of a revered Yoruba royal dynasty.

The statement noted that this noble act, though costly to the kingdom, remains a lasting testament to the values of courage, loyalty, honour, and integrity that define the Ago-Oja people.

According to the community, the restoration of the Oloja stool under Governor Makinde’s administration represents a correction of history and a reaffirmation of justice, made possible through what they described as the governor’s visionary leadership, fairness, and commitment to cultural preservation.

The Ago-Oja descendants also extended their gratitude to key institutions and stakeholders whose roles were instrumental in achieving the historic restoration.

These include the Oyo State House of Assembly, members of the Oyo State Executive Council, the Council of Obas and Chiefs, royal fathers across Oyo State and Yorubaland, as well as the generality of the people of Oyo State.

They stated that the collective support, wisdom, and belief in justice demonstrated by these bodies and individuals made the successful restoration of the ancient stool possible.

Describing the development as a landmark achievement, the community said the return of the Oloja throne is not only a victory for the Ago-Oja Kingdom but also a triumph for truth, cultural heritage, and unity across Yorubaland.

The statement concluded with prayers that the restoration would usher in a new era of peace, progress, and prosperity forthe Ago-Oja Kingdom and Oyo State at large.

Signed:
The Ago-Oja Descendants
On behalf of the Oloja-in-Council and the good people of Ago-Oja Kingdom
