Good items, including household and other properties worth millions of naira, have been destroyed as a result of the inferno that ravaged some shops in a market, a residential building in Ibadan, and Oyo township, respectively.

Heritage Echo affirmed that no fewer than ten (10) shops were ravaged by the inferno.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service Reform/Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.

Akinwande on Tuesday noted that a rescue operation was successfully carried out with the support of men of the Federal Fire Service.

He said: “Upon arrival, we met ten (10) shops out of several shops in the market engulfed by flames.

“Our officers swiftly got into action and prevented the fire from spreading to other shops and nearby properties”.

“The Federal Fire Service also joined hands with us to extinguish the fire. No casualty was recorded.

“The fire was as a result of fueling of a running generator by one of the occupants.

“Properties worth billions of naira were saved by the firefighters.”

Also, the firefighters dosed fire incident beside Zion Baptist Conference, Elekaara area, Oyo township on 8th February, 2026.

It was a private residential building of a five bedroom flat engulfed by fire.

The agency officer led by PFS II Makinde, promptly responded and deployed to the scene of the incident.

The agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident, he stated that the inferno was as a result of bush and undergrowth burnt unattended to which ignited to the facing board of that building and set it ablaze.

Equally, the agency dosed fire incident at Papa, Airport area on Sunday, 8th February, 2026.

The officer of the agency led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen promptly mobilized and deployed to the scene of incident.

Heritage Echo gathered that it was a private residential building of three bedrooms flat covered with flames and thick smoke.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman Hon Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.

He said, “no casualty was recorded as the fire incident was as a result of light candles unattended, ignited to the nearby combustibles and set the building on fire.

Akinwande further urged the public to be conscious of fire, provides iron plate for candle, unplugged all electrical appliances when not in used particularly before going to b d in the night.

He also emphasized the importance of installing fire fighting extinguishers in every household when it just started.
