The lawmaker representing Ibadan South-East/Ibadan North-East Federal Constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has applauded Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for donating a newly constructed secretariat to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the gesture as a landmark contribution to the party’s growth and stability in the state.
Agboworin, who gave the commendation while speaking to journalists at the formal inauguration of the new party’s State Secretariat on Tuesday, noted that the governor’s decision to invest in party infrastructure reflects uncommon leadership and a deep understanding of the role strong institutions play in sustaining democracy.
According to the two term lawmaker and Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, the donation of a permanent party secretariat goes beyond physical infrastructure, it strengthens internal coordination, promotes unity, and reinforces the PDP’s long-term vision.
He described Governor Makinde’s action as a demonstration of commitment to party development and internal cohesion, adding that such foresight has continued to earn the PDP public confidence and electoral goodwill across the state.
Agboworin stated that the new secretariat would serve as a central meeting point for party stakeholders, providing a platform for strategic engagement, reconciliation, policy planning, and grassroots mobilisation ahead of future political activities.
He said: “The donation of this Secretariat coming from my principal and the governor of our dear State sends a clear message that the PDP in Oyo State is built to last. Yes.
“I can also say that the donation is an investment in structure, unity and continuity, not in personalities.
“So, to me, I see it as a demonstration of commitment to the party’s development and internal cohesion. Governor Makinde has good foresight and this has continued to earn the PDP public confidence and electoral goodwill across the state.“
The lawmaker reaffirmed his resolve to continue working with party leaders and members to strengthen the PDP at all levels, stressing the need for inclusiveness and responsiveness to the aspirations of party faithful and the wider electorate.
He urged members of the party to protect and utilise the facility as a collective asset, noting that unity and shared responsibility remain essential to the PDP’s sustained success in Oyo State.
