A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo Federal Constituency, Hon. Afolabi Idris, popularly known as ALOMA, marked his golden jubilee with a humanitarian outreach to the Oluyole Motherless Babies Home, Omolewa, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, as part of activities commemorating his 50th birthday.
Heritage Echo gathered that the celebrant visited the home today, to share the joy of the milestone with vulnerable children, underscoring his belief that birthdays are best marked through service to humanity and support for the less privileged.
During the visit, Hon. Afolabi Idris donated food items, toiletries, Parked Milo, Tea, baby care materials, a golden jubilee cake, and other essential supplies aimed at supporting the day-to-day welfare of the children at the home.
He noted that the outreach was driven by compassion and a personal resolve to make a meaningful impact, especially at a time when many charitable institutions are grappling with rising costs and limited resources.
According to him, attaining the age of 50 provided an opportunity for reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to giving back to society, particularly to those who cannot speak for themselves.
Afolabi Idris further urged individuals, corporate bodies, and public office holders to regularly support orphanages and care homes, stressing that collective responsibility remains key to improving the lives of vulnerable children.
The management of the Oluyole Motherless Babies Home received the items with appreciation, describing the gesture as timely and impactful to the sustenance of the children under their care.
Officials of the home explained that donations of this nature help cushion the financial burden of feeding, healthcare, and general upkeep of the children, while also boosting staff morale.
