The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, has congratulated Oyo-born academic and administrator, Professor Musibau Adetunji Babatunde, on his appointment as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG) by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Hon. Akinwande, in a congratulatory statement made available to Heritage Echo on Monday, described the appointment as well-deserved, timely, and reflective of Governor Makinde’s commitment to merit, competence, and inclusive governance.
He applauded the Governor for zoning the same strategic office of the SSG to Oyo township, noting that the decision further strengthens the spirit of fairness, equity, and justice in the distribution of key political and administrative positions across the state.
According to the Fire Service Agency Chairman, the deliberate balancing of executive appointments among the various zones of Oyo State underscores the Governor’s deep understanding of diversity management and his resolve to carry every segment of the state along in governance.
Hon. Akinwande noted that Prof. Musibau Babatunde brings to the new role a rich blend of academic excellence and public sector experience, having previously served as Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget Planning as well as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.
He expressed confidence that the former commissioner’s in-depth understanding of government finances, policy formulation, and development planning will greatly enhance coordination within the state’s executive arm and support the effective implementation of government programmes.
The Fire Service Agency Chairman added that the new SSG’s background and track record positioned him well to strengthen inter-ministerial collaboration, improve service delivery, and drive Governor Makinde’s vision of sustainable development and good governance.
Hon. Akinwande urged Prof. Musibau Babatunde to see the appointment as a call to service to all citizens of Oyo State, while assuring him of the cooperation and support of government agencies and stakeholders in the discharge of his responsibilities.
