As part of activities to usher in the New Year, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso Zone and the Babalaje of Ogbomosoland, Engineer Muftau Open Salawu, has distributed 50 bags of rice to party members across the zone.

The New Year palliative distribution, which covered the five local government areas in Ogbomoso Zone, was aimed at supporting party faithful and easing the impact of prevailing economic challenges as residents step into the year 2026.
Speaking during the exercise, Engr. Open Salawu described the gesture as a tradition he has sustained over the years, noting that supporting party members and the larger community during festive seasons remains a personal commitment.
He disclosed that the 2026 outreach marked the fourth consecutive time he would be extending such humanitarian support to PDP members across Ogbomoso, stressing that solidarity and shared sacrifice are essential for party growth and unity.
According to him, the donation was not just about food items, but a symbol of appreciation for the loyalty, perseverance, and resilience of PDP members in the zone despite political and economic pressures.
Engr. Open Salawu urged party faithful to remain steadfast and committed to the ideals of the PDP, assuring them that difficult times are temporary and would eventually give way to better days.
He lamented what he described as deliberate efforts by some political actors to stifle the opposition, stating that such actions would not weaken the PDP but instead strengthen the resolve of its members.
The PDP stalwart emphasized that the party remains deeply rooted in the aspirations of the people and would continue to reposition itself for greater relevance and electoral success in Oyo State and beyond.
Party members who benefited from the gesture expressed appreciation to Engr. Open Salawu, commending his consistency, generosity, and unwavering support for the PDP at the grassroots level.
They described the New Year donation as timely and morale-boosting, pledging renewed loyalty to the party and its leadership as the PDP prepares for future political engagements in the state.
