Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as Fire ravaged a residential Building In Ogbomoso, Ibadan axis of Oyo State.
At Ibadan, the fire incident occurred at the Iyaganku Police Quarters in Ibadan Metropolitan.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.
Akinwande in a statement released stated that the firefighters led by ACFS Oyeniyi Taofeek immediately mobilized and deployed to the scene.
He said, “On getting there, there was a room on the first floor of two (2) stories of residential buildings engulfed by fire.
“Our officers quickly swung into action and curtailed the fire from spreading to the nearby buildings and properties.
“A man of twenty-five (25) years of age was rescued alive and conveyed to Eleyele Police Barrack Clinic.
Also, Oyo State fire service attended the Boys Quarters of a private residential building of a bedroom flat engulfed by fire at Olayemi House. Daramola Street, Agbofinro, Ibadan.
The firemen swiftly swung into action and curtailed the fire from spreading to the main building. The fire was completely extinguished.
The fire affected only the Boys Quarters and the main building and other properties worth millions of naira were saved by the officers of the Agency.
No casualty was recorded.
However, Fire personnel led by CFS Dairo in charge promptly responded to a kitchen on the upper floor of a storey residential building engulfed by fire at Owoade Police Station, Ogbomoso.
The fire incident was a result of the cooking gas cylinder being left unattended in the kitchen and exploding.
Properties worth millions of naira were saved and no casualty was recorded.
Equally, the fire personnel led by CFS Adesina Olusoji promptly mobilized and responded to the distressed call at Terminal 1, Opposite Hamidu Ajibade Complex, Agodi Gate, Ibadan.
It was discovered that shops caught on fire and firefighters swiftly swung into action, the fire was curtailed and restricted from spreading to other nearby shops and properties.
No casualty was recorded. The operation was carried out successfully and properties worth billions of naira were saved by the officers of the fire service.
The post-fire incident investigation is in progress to ascertain the root cause of the fire incident.
The victims of the incidents applauded the executive Governor of Oyo State for providing state-of-the-art equipment to the state fire service for them to respond to emergencies.
Akinwande urged the traders across the state to be conscious of fire and emphasized the importance of having extinguishers in their respective shops in order to prevent fire incidents when just start.
