Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of a fire that ravaged a residential building in Ibadan.

The incident occurred today, Tuesday December, 2025, at No. 1, Taiwo Street, Micheal Fadahunsi Close, Joyce B, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

Heritage Echo gathered that the fire incident was a result of an electrical surge, as properties worth millions of naira were saved by the fire service.



Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.
Akinwande in a statement released affirmed that it was the living room and kitchen of a three-bedroom flat on the upper floor of a four-residential building engulfed by fire.

He said, “Firefighters led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen were immediately mobilized and deployed to the scene of the incident.
“Upon arrival, it was the living room and kitchen of a three-bedroom flat on the upper floor of a four-residential building engulfed by fire. The swift and professional intervention prevented the situation from escalating into a serious
fire outbreak.
“A boy of about twelve (12) years was rescued alive with minor injury and conveyed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
“The fire was a result of an electrical surge, as properties worth millions of naira were saved by the fire service.
Residents applauded the executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr ‘Seyi Makinde for providing state-of-the-art equipment to the State fire service in response to emergencies.
Equally, Akinwande urged the public to be conscious of fire and emphasized the importance of having fire extinguishers in every household to prevent fire incidents at the incipient stage
