A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Modiu Akande Opeyemi (a k.a Alabamusa), has congratulated former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, on his emergence as the party’s National Secretary.

Hon. Modiu Alabamusa represents the good people of Ibadan South-East Constituency 1.
In a statement released and made available to newsmen on Sunday, Hon. Opeyemi described Arapaja’s elevation as a well-deserved honour that reflects his long-standing commitment, loyalty, and service to the PDP both within Oyo State and at the national level. The lawmaker noted that Arapaja’s experience as a former Ambassador and seasoned party administrator would further strengthen the PDP’s national leadership structure.

He commended Arapaja for what he called “years of steadfast contribution to party unity,” adding that the new role places him in a strategic position to help reposition the PDP for future electoral successes.

Hon. Modiu also lauded the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, for hosting what he described as a well-organized, peaceful, and successful national convention in Ibadan.
According to him, the convention demonstrated the governor’s capacity for effective coordination and his commitment to ensuring that Oyo State remains a political rallying point in the country.

“The seamless conduct of the convention in Ibadan is yet another testament to Governor Makinde’s leadership and organizational strength,” he said.
“The governor has once again shown that Oyo State can deliver on major national party engagements with excellence.”
The lawmaker expressed optimism that the emergence of Arapaja as National Secretary, along with Makinde’s continued leadership within the party, would contribute to strengthening internal democracy, enhancing party unity, and preparing the PDP for future national engagements.
Hon. Opeyemi Alabamusa now urged party members across the country to rally behind the new leadership and work collectively toward repositioning the PDP for greater success.
