The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abass Adigun (popularly known as Agboworin), has extended significant support to security agencies operating within his constituency through the donation of essential operational items.

The empowerment initiative, held on Thursday in Ibadan, benefitted several security outfits including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Security (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Operation Burst, and Amotekun Corps.
Items distributed to the agencies included refrigerators, generating sets, printers, water dispensers, industrial fans, and valuable office stationery, all aimed at enhancing workplace efficiency and boosting morale.

Speaking at the presentation, Rep. Agboworin noted that the gesture was part of his ongoing commitment to complement the efforts of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, in strengthening the state’s security architecture.

“We must remember those who protect us,” Agboworin said. “I am doing this because our security agencies deserve motivation and better working conditions. Having served in the military myself, I understand the demands of this profession. Imagine what would happen if our security personnel decided to go on strike for a week—society would be in chaos.”
He urged other political leaders to emulate such gestures to further improve the operational environment of security agencies across the state.

Representing the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, DC Operations Ekanem Usen commended the lawmaker for the donation, describing it as a timely intervention.

“We have seen many empowerment programmes from you, but this one stands out because it recognizes the men and women who keep our communities safe. These equipment will enhance our operational efficiency,” he stated.

Similarly, the Executive Assistant on Security to the Governor, CP Sunday Odukoya (rtd), praised the lawmaker’s initiative, noting that it aligns with Governor Makinde’s continuous drive to ensure peace and safety across Oyo State.
“What Agboworin has done is a reflection of shared responsibility for the safety of our people. If other leaders follow this example, insecurity will reduce drastically,” Odukoya remarked.

Among the beneficiaries were the DSS Headquarters, Oyo State Police Command, Amotekun Corps, Operation Burst, and divisional offices in Idi-Ape, Agugu, Felele, Idi-Aro, Mapo, and across both Ibadan North East and South East local government areas.

The event reaffirmed Rep. Agboworin’s dedication to not only legislative duties but also to initiatives that promote public safety and community development in Oyo State.
