Oyo State was on edge this week as multiple fire incidents were reported across different parts of the state, resulting in property damage and widespread panic among residents.

Heritage Echo gathered that firefighters doused eighteen 18-seater buses, the incident occurred today, Thursday at Alagbon area, Oyo-ogbomoso road, Oyo.

The fire was a result of heat generated from the engine compartment, which ignited the petroleum spirit and set the bus ablaze.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident to our correspondence in a statement released.




Akinwande said, a commercial MAZDA bus of eighteen (18) passengers loaded with Automotive Gasoline Oil (AGO) in jerrycans which belonged to one communication company engulfed by fire in front of a shopping complex.
According to him; “The firemen swiftly swung into action, subdued and restricted the fire from affecting the shopping complex, furniture workshop, communication Base station, and other surrounding properties.

“No casualty was recorded, the vehicle was destroyed by fire while fire services were able to save buildings and properties around the scene of the incident.

In Ibadan, the state capital, a fuel tanker carrying 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) reportedly swerved into a nearby ditch and content gushed out.
An incident, which occurred at Ifegbewasokan Community Road, Odo-Ona, Kekere, Ibadan, in the early hours of Wednesday 29th October, 2025 forced motorists and traders in the area to flee for safety.
Oyo Fire Service Reform Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.
Akinwande said; “The Firemen led by CFS Adesina promptly responded to the distressed call. On getting to the scene of the accident, it was a MACK trailer tanker with registered number TI6366LA loaded with 33,000 litres capacity loaded with premium motor spirit (PMS) that swerved into a nearby ditch and the contents were gushing out.
“Our officers quickly swung into action by applying chemical foam compound to suppress the flammability of the content and prevent it from catching fire from the surrounding.
“No casualty was recorded and the accident was a result of loss of control whilst driving. The fire service was there till the following day Thursday 30th, October,2025 to ensure the safety of the people and properties in the community.
Similarly, in Ogbomoso, an incinerator machine caught fire, sending thick smoke into the sky and causing panic among residents nearby.

The incident occurred today, at Ogbomoso South local government, Ogbomoso as Firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding structures.
Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incidents, describing the day as “one of its busiest in recent times.
He said, the fire personnel were led by CFS Kola Oladejo, were properties worth millions of naira from the inferno.
However, the cause of the fire incident has yet to be established and the post-fire incident investigation is ongoing to ascertain the root cause of the incident.
