All the ten local government chairmen, vice chairmen and political appointees in Oke Ogun zone of Oyo state have assured Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP remains one and strong despite the recent defection of some individuals led by Senator Hosea Agboola.

This is contained in a communique issued at a end of a crucial meeting of the Chairmen, vice Chairmen and all political functionaries in the ten local governments in Oke Ogun zone, held on Thursday 23rd October, 2025 at Iseyin Local government council, Iseyin.

According to the communique, the councils’ leadership also pass a vote of confidence on governor Makinde and the leadership of the PDP in Oyo State.

The local government chairmen and their vices said Senator Agboola and other defectors, who owe their rise in politics to the PDP, are nothing without the Party and cannot negatively influence the good people of Oke Ogun, who have witnessed the people-centred governance and insightful policies delivered by the government of governor Makinde.

They hinted that “With many landmark achievements in Oke Ogun and other parts of the State, including road infrastructure, educational and health projects as well as agriculture reforms, Oke Ogun Zone has never had it so good under any government and its people cannot be traded for personal gains.

The communique reads:

“We, the Executive Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and all Political Functionaries in the 10 Local Government Areas in Oke Ogun Zone of Oyo State, met in Iseyin, Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Thursday, 23rd October, 2025, to deliberate on governance and the affairs of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Oke Ogun Zone and Oyo State.

“At the end of the meeting, which was attended by all Council Chairmen and Political Functionaries in the Zone, we made the following resolutions.

“That we, on behalf of the Governments and the good People of the 10 LGAs in Oke Ogun, pass a vote of confidence in His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Governor’s and leadership of the PDP in Oyo State.

“That we express confidence in his decision to work with other national leaders to rebuild and strengthen the PDP as the most credible opposition platform that can rescue Nigeria in 2027.

“That we reassure His Excellency and the leadership of the PDP that our great Party remains solid and strong in Oke Ogun Zone, despite the recent self-centred decisions of a few individuals led by Senator Hosea Agboola, to abandon the Party, which made them politically.

“That Senator Agboola and the other defectors, who owe their rise in politics to the PDP, are nothing without the Party and cannot negatively influence the good people of Oke Ogun, who have witnessed the people-centred governance and insightful policies delivered by the government of His Excellency. With many landmark achievements in Oke Ogun and other parts of the State, including road infrastructure, educational and health projects as well as agriculture reforms, Oke Ogun Zone has never had it so good under any government and its people cannot be traded for personal gains.

“That we will work actively with all leaders and stakeholders in Oke Ogun to build the Party into a stronger and more formidable platform, which will deliver victory to all the candidates of the Party in future elections.
