Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed as Fire ravaged a private residential building in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred at Amolegbe House, Omoleye Street, Molete, Ibadan, in the Southwest Local Government Area.

The fire incident was a result of an electrical cooker being left unattended, which ignited nearby combustible materials and set the whole building ablaze.

No casualty was recorded as properties worth millions of naira were saved from the Inferno.



Special adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform and Agency Chairman Hon Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.
He said; “The fire incident was reported at exactly 09:50hrs on Tuesday 7th October, 2025 through a telephone” call, and Mr. Raji Azeez about a house on fire at the above address.

“The Firemen led by CFS Olayiwola promptly mobilized and deployed to the scene of the incident. On getting there, it was a private residential building engulfed by fire.
“Our officers swiftly got to work and curtailed the fire from spreading to the nearby buildings and properties. The building was seriously affected by fire.
“No casualty was recorded. The fire incident was a result of the electrical cooker being plugged in unattended which ignited nearby combustible materials and set the whole building ablaze.
Akinwande further advises the public to always handle electrical appliances diligently and follow the procedures when using them.
He also lays emphasis on the importance of having fire extinguishers in every household in order to prevent fire incidents at the incipient stage.
