In a strategic move aimed at deepening corporate-social synergy and supporting youth-focused initiatives, telecommunications giant Globacom Nigeria Limited has paid a courtesy visit to the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, under the leadership of Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana.

A statement released by the Head of Media Unit to the Chairman, Opeyemi Rasheed Socrates. The visit, held at the agency’s headquarters in Ibadan, was led by the Regional Manager, from Globacom’s Enterprise Business Unit.

During the visit on Tuesday, the delegation from Globacom engaged in high-level discussions with the agency’s Chairman, Hon. Falana, and the Coordinating Director, Mr. Sangogade Olusumbo Idowu, on potential areas of collaboration, particularly in leveraging technology to empower youth entrepreneurs and promote digital literacy across Pacesetter State.

Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Adewale Adiatu, Regional Manager of the Enterprise Business Unit at Globacom, emphasized the company’s commitment to youth development and enterprise support.

“Globacom recognizes the critical role of young people in driving innovation and economic growth. Our Enterprise Business Unit is keen to partner with institutions like the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development to co-create programmes that equip youths with the tools they need to thrive in the digital economy,” he said.

Adiatu applauded the agency’s performance across areas of youth development, thereby transforming the youth in Pacesetter to the global standard of innovation and creativity.

In response, the Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, commended Globacom for the proactive outreach and expressed enthusiasm for the proposed partnership.

“We are excited about the possibilities this partnership holds. Globacom’s presence and investment in Oyo State, particularly in the digital and enterprise space, will significantly boost the efforts of the youth efforts, His Excellency Engr ‘Seyi Makinde in youth empowerment, job creation, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship,” Adebowale noted.

He further used the medium to reel out the sustainable development legacy of His Excellency Engr ‘Seyi Makinde over the 6 years which has touched all significant areas of human endeavors.

“We’ve never had it so good like this in our State, since the inception of this governance, the youth-friendly Governor has delivered tangible results to further seal a win-win deal with the official launching of Oyo State Sub-national African Continental Free Trade Area (Afcfta) implementation strategy, first of its kind in 36 states of the federation.”

Discussions during the visit focused on collaborative initiatives such as digital skills training, enterprise connectivity solutions for young entrepreneurs, and the integration of Globacom’s technology platforms in youth empowerment programmes across the Pacesetter state.

The courtesy visit concluded with a tour of the agency’s facilities and a commitment from both parties to formalize the partnership framework in the coming weeks.

This visit marks a significant step in public-private collaboration aimed at fostering inclusive economic development and bridging the digital divide among Nigerian youth.
