Nigerians in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, particularly those of Oyo State origin, are set to converge in Melbourne for a historic town hall meeting, fundraising event, and book launch in honour of Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (popularly known as AKK), a 2027 gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement was made by Ambassador Adeniyi Ekine, a community leader, journalist, and minister of the gospel, who urged Nigerians in the diaspora, especially the Yoruba, Ibadan indigenes and Oyo State, to take advantage of the rare opportunity to engage with Dr. AKK.

The event, billed for Saturday, 30th August 2025, will be held at the Kensington Town Hall, Melbourne, Victoria State, Australia from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm prompt.

According to Ambassador Ekine, the program will not only feature an interactive town hall session where attendees can share their thoughts on governance, but also a fundraising drive and the official launch of Dr. Kareem’s latest book titled “Our Realistic Tomorrow.”

“This event is open to everybody. It is a chance to meet Dr. AKK one-on-one, share your ideas on leadership, and contribute to shaping the future of Oyo State,” Ekine said.

Beyond the political and intellectual engagements, the day promises to be lively, with plenty to eat, drink, and a variety of special cultural entertainments by different community groups.

Ambassador Ekine concluded by calling on Nigerians and friends of Oyo State in Australia to “come one, come all” and make the event a memorable gathering in support of Dr. AKK’s vision for the state.
