A popular foam factory has been destroyed by fire in Oyo township.
The catastrophic incident occurred at Global Crystal Foam Nigeria Limited, Oko- Oba Area along Akinmorin Road, Oyo.
Heritage Echo gathered that the fire incident on Tuesday affected the ware house of the foam factory.
However, factory equipment as well as properties were said to have been affected.
While speaking with our correspondence, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.
He said; “The fire incident was reported at exactly 22:39hr on Tuesday 8th July 2025 through telephoning and DPO Dubar police Station to the incident at the said address.
“The Agency’s Officers led by CFM Yisau Lateef swiftly deployed to the scene of incident.On getting to the scene of incident we met the warehouse of the foam mattress company engulfed by fire.
The Firemen quickly get to work by applying necessary fire fighting chemicals in curtailing the fire. The fire was strictly restricted from where we met it and prevented it from spreading to other sections of the company The fire was extinguished completely.
Akinwande said, the fire was as a result of spontaneous reactions due to overwhelming from the accumulated mattresses.
Equally, the fire slightly affected the foam warehouse and properties worth millions of naira were saved by the Agency.
