Properties Worth Millions of Naira have been destroyed as a result of a fire incident that ravaged a residential building in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Heritage Echo News gathered that the incident occurred on Friday, at Ori-Eni Apapa Ojeomo Road Moniya, Ibadan.
The Special Adviser on Fire Reform and Chairman of the Fire Services Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, confirmed the incident.

Hon. Akinwande in a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo News on Saturday said; “Today, Friday 16th of May, 2025, an emergency call was reported at exactly 15:25hrs through telephoning and Mrs. Igbona to house on fire at the above address”

“The fire personnel led by ACFS Adedeji (Mrs) promptly deployed to the scene of the incident.
“On arrival, it was a private residential building of three (3) bedrooms flat engulfed by fire. We swiftly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and properties.

The fire was jointly extinguished with the Federal Fire Service. The cause of the fire was the overheating of a cooking appliance plugged into the kitchen unattended, which ignited nearby combustibles and set the building ablaze.
No casualty was recorded, but properties worth millions of naira were destroyed by fire.
The fire service was able to save all the nearby buildings and properties from the devastating fire.
However, the Special Adviser on Fire Reform and Chairman of the Fire Services Agency, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, charged the public to always switch off and unplug all electrical appliances while not in use to avert fire as a result of electricity.
He also urged the people of Oyo State to call the Fire Service immediately after the fire incident occurred because this would help in prompt response to the emergency.
