In a vibrant ceremony steeped in tradition and culture, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) awarded the prestigious Ibadan Ambassador of Culture Award to Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, on Monday at the local government secretariat in Iyana-offa.

The event, attended by traditional leaders, community stakeholders, notable politicians across party lines and local residents, highlighted the enduring significance of Ibadan’s cultural heritage and the role of leaders like Kamorudeen in preserving it.

The CCII, a respected socio-cultural organization dedicated to advancing Ibadan’s legacy, recognized Kamorudeen for his transformative efforts in promoting cultural preservation and community development. Under his ongoing administration, Lagelu has led many initiatives to promote leadership by traditional rulers, support local artisans, and organize cultural festivals that strengthen communal ties and celebrate Ibadan’s rich heritage.

Accepting the award, Kamorudeen expressed gratitude to the CCII and dedicated the honor to the people of Lagelu and Ibadan. “This recognition reflects our shared commitment to safeguarding Ibadan’s cultural identity,” he said. “Our heritage is our strength, and together, we will ensure it thrives for future generations.”

He reaffirmed his pledge to advance cultural and developmental projects, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in preserving Ibadan traditions.

Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, President-General of the CCII, praised Kamorudeen’s leadership, describing him as “a dedicated steward of Ibadan’s cultural legacy.” “His work in Lagelu exemplifies the values of service and cultural pride that define our city,” Ajewole noted.

Kamorudeen’s award places him among notable figures previously honored by the CCII, and reecognized for their contributions to Ibadan development and cultural prominence. The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to ensuring Ibadan heritage remains a source of pride and inspiration.
