The Executive Chairman of Oyo West Local Government areas of Oyo State, Hon. Prince Akeem Babatunde Salam Olukitibi, has officially opened the State-of-the-art Gedu/Staff Comprehensive Healthcare Centre located in Ojongbodu, Oyo, Oyo State.

The commissioning which was done today at the back of the council’s headquarters witnessed the Health Center with its world-class amenities and first of its kind was fully constructed by the association of local government of Nigeria (ALGON) to serve the good people of Oyo West and boost the delivery of good health services in the area.

In line with the administration’s goal of ensuring good health care is affordable and accessible by the people of the community, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Prince Akeem Olukitibi, in his speech reiterated that the Centre is set to run 24hrs a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.


He, however, stated that the center was committed to providing qualitative care to everyone in the community,y, not minding their class and status.

” As we all know, “Health is Wealth,” that is why the issues of health can never be handled with levity. In line with this, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, has never left any stone unturned when it comes to the issue of quality health delivery in the state, which is a replica at the grassroots level we’re witnessing today “.

According to him, “evidence of this is daily found in the uplifting and equipping of all the health care centers in the state (both primary and secondary). This vision is what we jealously keyed into at the grassroots. As we all know, the management of the Primary Healthcare Centre is no longer in the hands of the local government in Òyó State. Despite this, we regularly equip our health centers with drugs and other consumables, Provision solar power electricity, boreholes, construct doctors’ quarters, and lots more.” He said.
The Council Mayor now appeals to the host community to guide and protect the facility against vandalism at any point in time. He urged them to cooperate with the workers for an effective synergy in other to achieve the aims and motives behind the monumental projects.

Olukitibi commended the association of the local government of Nigeria (ALGON) for counting Oyo West as worthy of the laudable projects and promised to protect the facility at all costs.
Also, in his speech, the chairman of the Oyo State Scholarship Board, Rt. Hon. Olawale Atilola maintained that the Healthcare Centre has a fully functional integrated maternity center to ensure safe childbirth and reduce the incidences of maternal and infant mortality; the facility has an equipped laboratory for tests and a standby ambulance on site at all times.

He pleaded with the health workers to be a good ambassador and discharged their duties professionally without bias or prejudice.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo West, Alhaji Sarafadeen Oyedele Oloyo, applauded the Chairman and his team for having the interest of the people at heart and for having adequate resources both in human and capital to keep the center running (24/7) day and night inclusive.

On finality, the PHC Matron, in her vote of thanks, thanked the people for taking the time to grace the occasion and encouraged everyone present to visit the health center when the need arises.

In attendance at the commissioning were; High Chief Mikail Afonja(The Baba Iyaji of Oyo Kingdom), Alhaji Nureni Alade(The Vice Chairman of Oyo West), Rt.Hon.Atilola Olawale, Alhaji Fatai Okunlola Obabi, Alhaji Isiaka Adebayo, Alhaji Adeyanju Bashiru, Leader Atanda R.A, Hon.Ogunsola Wale, Chief Ogungbile, Pa Folarin, Leader Rasheed Olokun esin, Hon.K.Bello, Mr.Tunde Eweka.
Others are all Councilors, Chief of Staff, Hon. Ademuyiwa Adewara, Council Secretary, Supervisory Councilors, Special assistants, Oyo West HLGA, DAGS, Southwest LCDA acting HLGA, DDAGS, and other notable Dignitaries.
