Human Capital Development: An Initiative of Societal Development by Governor Makinde

In a decisive and transformative move aimed at enhancing good governance in Oyo State, the administration of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde (GSM) has launched a comprehensive recruitment initiative across various ministries and agencies.

This initiative does not only seek to fill essential positions but also demonstrate the administration’s dedication to cultivating a skilled and vibrant workforce committed to serving the people of Oyo State. A sectoral approach of such recruitment drive for human capital development is discussed as follows:

Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM)
The recruitment process within TESCOM represents a significant effort to revitalize the state’s educational system. By attracting passionate and qualified educators, the administration aims to enhance the quality of education, ensuring that every child in Oyo State is provided with a solid foundation for their future. 7,500 teachers and 3,000 non-teaching Staff have been so far engaged and still counting.

State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB)
Similarly, the recruitment initiative at SUBEB is focused on strengthening the basic education sector. By bringing in skilled professionals, the administration is committed to improving learning outcomes and ensuring that foundational education is accessible to all children, regardless of their backgrounds. 7,000 new staff have been hired.

Oyo State Hospital Management Board (OYSHMB)
Acknowledging the critical need for quality healthcare, the OYSHMB recruitment initiative aims to staff healthcare facilities with competent professionals. This effort will not only bolster the health sector but also guarantee that the citizens of Oyo State receive quality medical care and support when they require it most. 375 personnel have attracted into the State Hospital Management Board including Medical Doctors, Nurses,Specialist Consultants ,Hospital Administrators, Pharmacists ,Pharmacy Technicians Medical Laboratory Scientists, Physiotherapists and other junior cadre officers.

Oyo State Primary Health Care Board (OYPHB)
The recruitment under OYPHM highlights the administration’s commitment to prioritizing primary healthcare services. By enlisting dedicated health workers, the government seeks to enhance access to essential health services, with a focus on preventive care and community health initiatives. 3,000 health workers for the state’s 464 Primary Healthcare Centres. The recruitment process for this sector is ongoing.

Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA)
To address the pressing need for effective traffic management and road safety, the OYRTMA recruitment initiative is designed to build a capable team that can implement robust traffic regulations. This effort aims to enhance road safety, minimize congestion, and improve the overall transportation experience for residents. 500 new officers have been recruited into OYRTMA

Ongoing Recruitment process of 791 new staff into Oyo State Civil Service Commission

Recruitment of able bodied local hunters and others into Oyo State Amotekun Corps as members of Amotekun Forest Rangers

Ongoing recruitment process, the conversion of LG ad-hoc workers to permanent staff at all 33 local government areas.

Ongoing recruitment process, Agricultural Extension Officers into all the 33 local government areas in Oyo State

To this end, the recruitment initiatives across these crucial ministries and agencies reflect a progressive approach to governance under His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde. By investing in human capital, this administration is fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and service, ultimately transforming the landscape of Oyo State for its pace setting status.
