In a bid to prevent a breakdown of law and order ahead of the nationwide planned protest against hunger, and inflation of commodities, the Executive Chairman of Oyo East local government, Hon. Oluokun Peter Olusola has directed the immediate increase of security surveillance in the local government areas.

Oluokun made this charge at the monthly security meeting which had in attendance all the security agencies, traditional rulers and Baale, Religious Clerics and Community leaders, and other stakeholders.


While making his speech, the Council Boss, Oluokun stated that’s essential to beef up security and surveillance in the mother of them-all council, aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of the grassroots residents and preventing any potential breakdown of law and order.

In light of the current economic hardships and the anticipated nationwide hunger protest, the council Mayor said “We understand the hardships faced by our people, and we are working tirelessly to provide relief and support.”

He added that the hardships passed through by the Nigerian citizens were a result of the skyrocketing state of the price of all commodities, which is enormous but we must take things with peace. While promising to enhance presence in strategic locations, increasing monitoring of public gatherings and protesters.

He emphasizes the need to be conscious of those hoodlums who may intend to hijack the protest because of their selfish interests. However, we will not tolerate any criminal activities or violence under the guise of protest. Our security agencies are ready to maintain order and protect the citizens of Oyo East.”
He further implored Obas/Baale, religious leaders, and security agencies to Walk hand in hand to curb any negative things that may happen. Urging citizens to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring them that the government is doing everything possible to address the current economic challenges.

In their remarks, the security agencies, traditional rulers, Band le, and Religious Clerics affirmed their readiness to protect residents against the vandalization of public properties.
The anticipated protest is scheduled to take place tomorrow and is expected to draw participants from across the country. The Oyo East local government area has made adequate preparations to ensure a peaceful and incident-free protest.

FRSC, Immigration unit.
