The distribution to various households, communities, religious organizations, public boarding schools, civil societies, the Red Cross, traditional rulers, youth organizations, community development councils, people living with disabilities, and other vulnerable members of the community took place today at the local government secretariat complex in Kosobo, Oyo.
Speaking during the disbursement of grains and garri, Hon. Oluokun Peter Olusola and the Vice Chairman, who doubles as the Oyo South-East Political Head, Hon. Mustapha Wasiu Wasiu, commended the 15-member committee for their sincerity of purpose, transparency, and fairness in ensuring that the materials reached the most needy people in the community.
According to them, the distribution of relief materials aims to alleviate the hardship, economic challenges, and persistent inflation of commodities faced by the residents.
Oluokun further expressed confidence in the palliative distribution committee’s efforts to ensure the aid reaches across the council area, particularly to the targeted beneficiaries regarded as vulnerable.
Oluokun underscored the smooth and efficient distribution of grains and garri, while applauding the security agencies for their cooperation in making it a hitch-free exercise.
Reacting on behalf of other beneficiaries, the representative of the Headmistress of New Durbar Handicap School, Mrs. Olopade, commended the prompt actions of both the federal and state governments in addressing the plight of Nigerians.
She added that the palliatives have brought relief to many households in Oyo East Local Government, ensuring that the most vulnerable members of the community are not left behind.
“This joint effort by the local government has ensured that aid reaches those who need it most. We’re glad to receive it, and it will be utilized efficiently and effectively,” she said.
She further called for continued support from the government to ensure that palliative measures are directed to the grassroots.
The distribution of the palliatives has had a positive impact on the lives of many, alleviating hunger, reducing poverty, and promoting economic recovery.
