The Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Hon Oluokun Peter Olusola was sworn in on Friday by Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde and has taken over the mantle of leadership in the Council area, Kosobo, Oyo.

The first official assignment preformed by the Chairman was the signing of oath of office papers of the ten elected councillors in the Council area.

While delivering his first official speech, Hon Oluokun thanked God for the grace bestowed on him to attain the leadership of the council area. He equally thanked the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde and Senator Monsurat Sunmonu for the their goodwill which propelled him to the exalted position.

Further in his speech, the new Executive Chairman sought the cooperation of both the Legislative Arm of Government and the Career Officers to move the council area forward.


The Head of LG Administration, Alh H.O.D Oyewo in his welcome address appealed for a harmonious working relationship with the political officeholders, saying the Career Officers are ready to play in line with the rules of the game.

Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, a Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party in the Council Area spoke extensively giving valuable counsels and warnings to both the political officeholders and career officers to refrain from any activity capable of drawing the council area forward, saying all hands must be on deck to improving the living conditions of the LG residents.

Among other people who gave their goodwill messages at the occasion were honourable member representing Oyo East – Oyo West State Consistuency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Olorunpoto Rahman, PDP Party Chairman, Hon Shakiru Ojo, Hon Akinwande, former Rep. of Oyo Federal Constituent in the House of Representatives.

The programme was well attended with all Head of Departments and their subordinates on ground and Security Agents on seat led by the Police Area Commander, ACP Olufunmilayo
