The official inauguration of the Ibadan North transitioning committee marked a significant milestone in the region’s governance landscape.
Conducted at the prestigious Ibadan North Local Government secretariat on May 7, 2024, the event convened prominent stakeholders, including the transitioning committee of the incoming chairman, Hon. OLUWASEUN OLUFADE, operating under the capable leadership of Chairman Prince Adebowale Falana and his proficient team.
The transitioning committee received a warm reception from the outgoing chairman of the Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Akanbi Waheed Biro, and his transition committee.
Chairman Biro emphasized unity and cooperation, highlighting the importance of transparency throughout the transition process.
His impassioned plea for harmony resonated with attendees, urging them to prioritize collective efforts toward a shared objective.
Guiding the transition committee was Alhaja Muideen, the Head of local government administration of Ibadan North Local Government. Joined by distinguished heads and directors of departments, including The HLA of the Aare Latoosa and Irepodun LCDA, they were committed to facilitating a seamless transfer of power.
Prince Adebowale, in his address, reaffirmed the committee’s dedication to a smooth transition, underscoring their commitment to integrity and equity.
He outlined the specific responsibilities of each member, recognizing the critical departments essential for documentation and governance continuity.
The delineated roles emphasized:
- Hon Akeem Ismail – Estate & Town Planning and Land
- Mr Mustapha Hamdy – Works
- Mrs Yemisi Olooto – Health and Environmental
- Mr Abiodun Agboluaje Don deal – Education, Budget, and Finance
- Mrs Mariam Oni – Information and Administration
- Mr Adeagbo Adewunmi – Agriculture
The transitioning committee articulated their requisites and projections, including the organizational structure of the local government, staff lists, ad hoc staff details, local government revenue, contract information, ongoing projects, market management, financial operations, assets, liabilities, and financial statements.
The meeting concluded with a sense of camaraderie as both committees acquainted themselves, laying the groundwork for a collaborative and efficient transition process that would ultimately benefit the residents of Ibadan North.
Members of the transitioning committee will commence their official duties tomorrow, Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, in their respective domains, initiating the collection of precise data for comprehensive documentation.
